The A110 R was designed to be outstanding on the track yet still mightily impressive on the road. It was built at the Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé and benefitted from the latest wind-tunnel technology and tools used by Alpine’s Formula 1 department. Its 4-cylinder 1.8 turbo engine is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission, producing a maximum torque of 340 Nm from 2,400 rpm and maximum power of 300 hp at 6,300 rpm.

Alpine’s “Radical” A110 iteration received numerous upgrades in carbon fibre: swan-neck spoiler mounts, side skirts, single-shell Sabelt® seats, roof, bonnet, rear window and tailor-made wheels reducing weight by 12.5kg. As a result, weight was reduced to merely 1,082kg – 34kg less than the A110 S. The diffuser was redefined also using carbon fibre and fibre glass, and its performance improved through rear suspension arm cowlings.

Exclusive improvements were made to the chassis and aerodynamics, enhancing the R’s downforce by 29kg at top speed and reducing drag by 5%. Clearance has been lowered by 10mm and adjustable shock absorbers allow the car to be lowered by a further 10mm with a 20-click ring to alter the compression/expansion ratio; suspension springs are over 10% stiffer at the front and rear.

This example has completed 8,500 miles from new with the original wheel nuts replaced with lightweight aluminium nuts. Also upon original purchase, the wheels, wheelarch liners and undertrays were removed and the underside of the car was cleaned (and old underseal removed) and treated with clear Bilthamber Dynax-UC underseal.
